Mike Selvon asked:
Nowadays, people are frequently choosing the option of booking ski chalets when they are deciding on accommodations for family ski vacations. The good news is that a ski chalet can be a great option for many reasons, mainly because it is cost effective for planning family getaways.
Staying at a chalet is a great choice because it offers the comfort and convenience of having a “home away from home.” However, unlike being at home, you can leave the cooking and the cleaning to the chalet staff. This gives you opportunity to be able to enjoy yourself fully and focus your time on the activities of the ski resort or simply on relaxing during your ski holiday.
A wide range of ski chalets can be booked depending on your needs and your preferences for privacy. There are some which are quite large and are very similar to staying at a small lodge or small boutique hotel. In addition, many resorts have smaller chalets which are intended to be perfect for small families or for two to three couples who vacation together.
Often, people who like to travel and ski with a group of friends will look for a chalet where the group can share a large accommodation. This allows everyone in the group to be in the same location, but also provides for privacy with separate rooms. You can book either the whole chalet for your group or several of the rooms so that small groups of friends or several couples can interact easily.
In such chalets, there is also plenty of common space where the group can gather, be it for meals or for drinks in front of the fire at the end of a day of skiing and playing in the snow. Often, families with children decide to share a lodge so that the children have indoor space to play. When the children’s bedtime comes, the parents can still be up and active, but have the security of being nearby and available.
Similar to regular hotel accommodations, most chalets are attended to daily by the resort staff. This gives a family plenty of privacy and space to spread out and enjoy themselves, but still allows for the staff to take care of the details and to make sure that it is clean and orderly when the family comes back from the slopes.
Some of the chalets either have childcare nearby or can provide staff for childcare. This often helps the younger children to feel more comfortable during times when the parents are out. In addition, many parents have greater peace of mind knowing that their children are being cared for by a nanny who can give them full attention as opposed to being in a day care center type of environment.
One of the more popular options in ski chalets are the luxurious accommodations that are fully catered. Your ski holiday at this type of high-end ski chalet will include a hearty cooked breakfast and an afternoon tea to help you recharge after a day of skiing.
Then, in the evening you will be met with a three to four course gourmet dinner accompanied by wine, all of which is prepared according to your preferences.

Southwest Florida is unique in many ways and having some of the best beaches in the world is only the start. Sanibel Island resorts offer luxurious accommodations perfect for the shelling enthusiast and those tuned into nature. Marco Island resorts feature quiet and secluded condominiums overlooking the Gulf of Mexico — taking you far away from everyday hustle and bustle. Fort Myers Beach resorts have the best of everything, fine resorts with all of the amenities and close to more active nighttime activities.
When planning your Southwest Florida vacation, the first step is decide which of the three resorts fits your image of a perfect destination. This article will take a more in-depth look at them so you can decide which is best for your family.
Fort Myers Beach Resorts – Sun, Sand And More
Named as one of the safest beaches on the Gulf Coast, the shallow calm waters are the primary draw for all of the Fort Myers Beach Resorts. Vacationers from families to partiers are attracted due to the many variety of activities that are close at hand. The northern end of the island is known for its liveliness and attracts both the young and young at heart. During Spring Break, this is a popular place for college students to meet and enjoy the beaches.
The Fort Myers Beach resorts are all within a short driving distance to the new Regional Southwest International Airport located in Fort Myers. The island has an abundance of restaurants, from fast food to fine dining with many Fort Myers Beach resorts having their own signature restaurant. There are many nighttime entertainment options to choose from for those that want the fun to continue after the sun goes down.
Marco Island Resorts – Away From It All
The three and a half miles of sandy white beaches combined with the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico are reason enough for vacationers to choose Marco Island Resorts. Home to many world-class accommodations Marco Island resorts are truly a world away from it all.
Part of the Southwest Florida’s Ten Thousand Islands, Marco Island is the largest. It’s also about as far South as you can go before becoming part of the Everglades National Park. Marco Island Beach resorts give new meaning to the term ‘away from it all’. As part of the Ten Thousand Islands, Marco Island is surrounded by dozens of uninhabited islands, pristine bays and the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.
An unforgettable vacation awaits — whether it’s a romantic getaway of a quiet family get together. The spectacular views, fine restaurants and beautiful beaches are close at hand for all of the Marco Island resorts.
Sanibel Island Resorts – Shelling At Its Best
Known world wide as one the best shelling beaches, Sanibel Island is truly nature at its finest. Most barrier islands are positioned North to South, but Sanibel Island lies East to West allowing the warm currents from the Gulf of Mexico to deposit mounds of beautiful seashells on the pristine natural beaches. Many Sanibel Island Resorts cater to the beachcomber with shelling stations where vacationers can wash and clean their newfound treasures.
Although most Sanibel Island resorts are located on the Gulf of Mexico, there is so much more to do on the island you may not spend much time on the beach. More than half of the island is part of the J. N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge; the most visited wildlife refuge in the nation and home to many common and rare varieties of birds and other wildlife. Visitors can tour the refuge as part of a guided tour, drive their own vehicle or for that up close and personal view, ride a bicycle. The front desk at the Sanibel Island resorts will be able to offer information as to tides and the best time to visit the refuge.
The 25 miles of bike paths make it easy to get from any Sanibel Island resort to almost anywhere on the island. You’ll most likely spot pelicans, herons, seagulls, egrets and other fine subtropical birds as you cycle around the island exploring.
There’s a beach vacation destination for everyone in Southwest Florida. Whether you prefer the privacy of Marco Island resorts, the activities of Fort Myers Beach resorts or the Sanibel Island resorts surrounded by nature at it’s finest you’ll be sure to have a vacation of a lifetime, one that will have returning year after year.

When you are looking to take a break from reality and are wanting to go on a ski holiday, there are places that are considered to be the best areas to ski in. When you are ready to book a holiday, you will want to look around for ski vacation deals. These deals can range in price and will offer you something that others will not.
One of the best places to visit is the Mammoth Mountain. Since the mountain is so large there are plenty of area’s that offer the best slopes to ski on, you can easily choose a run which is best suited to your skill level. In case you are not aware of where Mammoth Mountain is, it is located in California and has the number one snowboard park in California. The average snow fall for the area per season is 30 feet. The mountain is not too far from Los Angeles being only 5 hours away, so expect to see a few celebrities.
Another location that offers the best ski holiday deals is the Lake Tahoe ski holiday resort. This location is not too far of a drive from the Mammoth Mountain resort so if you are tired at one, you can easily drive to the other. Lake Tahoe offers ski slopes that have a setting and feeling of being on a Alpine ski slope.
If you are interested in taking a ski holiday in Canada then you will want to try out the Whistler ski holiday location. Whistler is considered to be the biggest mountain in North America. The Whistler location offers a 4 star resort as well as offering a ski chalet holidays package. The slopes are so good that they have been chosen to host the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. If you are interested in snowboarding there are slopes designed just for the snowboarder. With over 8000 acres of winter wonderland, you are sure of an experience while on your ski holiday.
All of these locations do not just offer you the fabulous slopes. During the times that you are not skiing you will find other activities such as local taverns that will offer the best beer on tap as well as the typical bar food that everyone loves or explore the numerous restaurants that are on offer.
No matter the occasion that has you choosing to take a ski holiday, look around for ski holiday deals and experience the best slopes in the world.
