How Do I Forget? Let Me Count the Ways!
D&C 10:5 5 Pray always, that you may come off conqueror; yea, that you may conquer Satan, and that you may escape the hands of the servants of Satan that do uphold his work."Always" is the key word for me.
The word "always" is what strikes me in this scripture. "Always" connotes commitment, consistency, conversion (not perfection!). It denotes our core values and the desires of hearts and minds. Human beings are forgetful-to the max! I am, anyway. Why else are we commanded to take the Sacrament every-single-week? Because God knows us. So every single week we commit again to "always remember" so that we can "always have His Spirit to be with us" (that's the goal). He knows that this is the only way we'll be able to remain on the covenant path.
I pray every single day to remember what God wants me to remember! (Unless I forget to pray-jk) The road to "always" has valleys, dips, steep climbs and mountain tops-after which it has valleys, dips, steep climbs, and mountain tops, and so on and so on. The choices we make may affect what form the Savior's grace takes in our lives. This grace will strengthen the journey on the road to "always. Being on that road is a powerful place to be.
